Team

Built inside aviation. Focused on what comes next.

Cloudline was founded by Matt Davis and Jon Cone, two pilots who spent years helping build FlightAware into the world's leading flight-tracking and aviation-data platform.

Matt came through aviation service operations and commercial leadership. Jon came through software engineering and large-scale systems. Together, their experience spans the ramp, the executive suite, and the infrastructure behind a global digital aviation business.

Now they are applying that experience to general aviation maintenance.

Matt's career began on the ramp and eventually led to the executive suite. The years in between are what shape his work at Cloudline.

After starting in line service, Matt went on to serve as General Manager of Wilson Air Center in Houston and later held leadership roles at TAC Air. He learned aviation as a service business first: the work happens in real time, details matter, and leaders need to understand what the people closest to the aircraft and customer actually do.

At FlightAware, Matt applied that operating background to a digital business. He helped build the company's commercial organization, expand the role of its data throughout aviation, and guide the business through its acquisition by Collins Aerospace. He later served as FlightAware's President and General Manager.

At Cloudline, those parts of his career come together: blue-collar roots, executive-level leadership, hands-on execution, and experience turning technology into meaningful operational change.

Matt holds a BS and MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a commercial, multi-engine and instrument-rated pilot and an active aircraft operator.

Jon's career began as a software engineer and eventually led to responsibility for a global engineering organization. Even as his responsibilities grew, he remained close to the architecture and the work of building.

At FlightAware, Jon helped build and modernize systems that process real-time aviation data at global scale. He rebuilt core streaming infrastructure, helped develop and grow the company's API and data products, and ultimately led FlightAware's engineering organization as Vice President of Engineering.

Following FlightAware's acquisition by Collins Aerospace, Jon led approximately 120 engineers across the United States, United Kingdom, and India. His work combined technical architecture, product delivery, organizational leadership, and the practical demands of operating critical aviation systems.

At Cloudline, Jon is back to hands-on building. He designed and developed the core platform behind Cloudline's products and leads its software architecture, data systems, product strategy, and technical execution.

Jon holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a commercial, multi-engine and instrument-rated pilot and an experienced aircraft owner and operator.
